Winery: TENUTE GIROLAMO
Varietal: Primitivo, Negroamaro, Aglianico, Fiano, Verdeca

We drove up north from Oria to Martina Franca in the province of Taranto to visit this winery which is situated in the hills, 400 meters above sea level.  This area (valley) is called Valle d’Itria.

I had the opportunity to meet with Piero Girolamo, the owner of the winery.  Pietro explained to me that now their signature wine, Conte Giangirolamo, is being sold at Costco in the US.  It is a blend of 50% Negroamaro and 50% Primitivo.  I also had the opportunity to speak to the resident enologist, Giuseppe Sama.  Please checkout the video for more details.
