Ram’s Vineyard – 6-Month Update (July 2026)

Date:

July 2026

Information:

It’s hard to believe that it’s already been six months since we planted the rootstocks in January 2026. The growth of the young vines has been remarkable. Shortly after planting, Puglia received abundant rainfall, which turned out to be a real blessing. Thanks to that early rain, we haven’t had to irrigate at all, despite the typically hot weather in June and July.

The vines are now between 12 and 16 inches tall and are beginning to spread. Some have even produced their first tiny clusters of grapes—a promising sign of what’s to come.

With all that rain, however, the weeds flourished right alongside the vines. I spent many hours clearing them by hand, but the real professional work came later. Pietro and Antonio did an outstanding job, not only removing the remaining weeds but also tilling the soil to promote healthier vine growth.

Take a look at these videos, filmed in June and July 2026, about five to six months after the rootstocks were planted on January 15, 2026. It’s exciting to see how much the vineyard has transformed in such a short time.
